Borrowing materials

You can borrow materials in-person with your CatCard if you are University of Arizona (UA) faculty, staff, or student or a Designated Campus Colleague (DCC). Banner employees have unique access and borrowing privileges.

Only UA students, faculty, and staff have off-campus access to electronic resources.

Community members can access our restricted electronic resources from public computers at other library locations. You can also apply for a library card to get more borrowing privileges.

Community faculty, preceptors, and visiting scholars should contact their college or department to find out how to get their NetID and CatCard.

Access for Health Sciences affiliates

We're open 24/7 for students, staff, and faculty in affiliated Health Sciences programs. Use your CatCard to access the library during unstaffed hours.

As a Banner employee, you can use the following services through the Banner Health Library:

For more information, go to Banner Health Library Services or get direct help at (602) 839-4353.

All Banner Health facilities, including those at the University of Arizona, are considered off-campus, so you need a campus NetID to get access to databases, ebooks, and other licensed resources.

For DCCs

If you are a Designated Campus Colleague (DCC), you can access all resources (except for UpToDate) through the library website, you'll just be prompted to sign in with your NetID.

Create a UA NetID if you don't have one. If you need help getting DCC status or a NetID, ask your department administrator.

For non-DCCs

Get online access to most library resources through campus guest WiFi and public computers. Banner employees are welcome to come to our UA Health Sciences Library during public hours to access resources.

Both UArizona and Banner subscribe to UpToDate. Banner employees and DCCs must access UpToDate through Banner.

If you're a Banner employee or College of Medicine resident or fellow, you can create a personal "UpToDate Anywhere" login using Banner's UpToDate subscription and use that from off-campus. Every 90 days, you'll get an email to verify your Banner credentials.

See more about how to access UpToDate.

For DCCs

Your CatCard is your library card, so you can use it to check out materials from any UA library. Contact the CatCard office if you don't have a CatCard.

If you need something we don't have, you can also use interlibrary loan to borrow items from other libraries.
