More about the library

We provide access to essential medical information, participate as instructors in the curriculum of the colleges, and work in partnership with researchers and clinicians to advance health information literacy. The library also provides spaces for interprofessional connection and community engagement, small group collaboration, and quiet study. The library’s primary clientele are the students, faculty, researchers, and staff associated with the University of Arizona Health Sciences. See statistics for the Health Sciences Library.

The University of Arizona is federally designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution and listed as an American Indian and Alaska Native-Serving Institution per White House Executive Order 13592. These designations demonstrate the university's dedication to diversity, equity, social justice, and inclusion. The Health Sciences Library is active statewide, working with health professionals and public libraries, health departments, and community groups to improve access to high-quality health information. We are a member of the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM), serving as the designated health resource library for Arizona. We are also a founding member of the Arizona Health Information Network (AZHIN), a consortium of health-related organizations in Arizona. AZHIN works to make high-quality online resources more accessible to health care providers across the state.
