Fees for materials

Most of our equipment is free to use. However, there are fees for materials when using our 3D printers, laser cutters, and vinyl cutter.

How to pay

If you are a UA student, faculty member, or staff member, CATalyst charges post to your library account. We also accept departmental charge accounts if you are paying through your university department. If you require an interdepartmental charge, speak with the front desk or send us an email.

If you are a community member, we’ll create a login for you to pay your fees online.

3D printing

How much does it cost?

There's no fee to use our 3D printers, but you do need to pay for materials. You are not able to bring in your own material for use with our printers.

Materials for purchase

We ask that you only use the materials we provide for our 3D printers.

We consistently carry PLA, Tough PLA, and PVA. Colors available may vary. Please note that PVA is only available for our Ultimaker machines.

Select spools of TPU, PETG, and infused PLA are available on a rotating basis.

We consistently carry Formlabs Grey V4 Photopolymer resin and currently have Formlabs Castable resin for a limited time.

Please contact us if you are interested in printing with a specific material not listed here either through our email, or through our Discord.

Our laser cutters do not cost anything to use.

You are welcome to bring your own materials, if they are approved for use on our machines. See our list of acceptable materials. A CATalyst staff member must approve any material you bring before cutting or engraving. Check with the front desk or email us before proceeding.

We also offer full sheets of acrylic and plywood for purchase. We have a variety of colors available in both 1/4" and 1/8" acrylic in 12"x24" sheets. We also provide 20"x30" and 20"x15" sheets of both 1/8" and 1/4" thick birch plywood.
