Pause for Paws fall 2023 midterms sees largest number of students to date
We set a new record
On Tuesday, Oct. 10, Access & Information Services (AIS) staff held Pause for Paws for the 11th year at Main Library.
This event is a partnership with Pet Partners of Southern Arizona who provides therapy animal teams that bring smiles and stress relief to students during midterms and finals.
More than 1,300 students stopped by to see and pet the pups – Chewy, Violet, Matisse, Dominique, Freddie, Cooper, Bisbee, Joy, Doc, and Tomi – compared to about 650 students at the last Pause for Pause in May for spring 2023 finals.
"The amount of students today was a great jump (more than 50%), and we were happy to see them engaging with our Pet Partners, staff, and each other," said Nellie Nano, AIS Library Services Associate II, who helped coordinate the event with Olivia Postal, AIS Library Information Associate, and Michelle Monroe, AIS Library Operations Supervisor.
Thank you
Thank you to the Student Health Advocacy Committee (SHAC) who partnered with us again. SHAC had a table in the lobby with a positivity poster activity for students. Thank you to our AIS staff and student workers for helping: Ami, Destiny, Mak, Tory, Ajay, Jimena, Anna, and Sarah.
The pups will be back
Animal therapy teams will return for finals on Sunday, Dec. 10. We will provide more information as we finalize it. Happy midterms!
