Access to the UpToDate database has moved to OpenAthens. EZ Proxy and IP access will be turned off on June 5, 2026.

What this means for you

Merge your existing account

If you have a current UpToDate username and password, merge your existing account one time to protect your CME credits.

Or you can:

Register for an UpToDate account

If you're a clinician, you may opt to have your usage tracked for CME/CE purposes by registering for an UpToDate account.

How to merge or create an account through OpenAthens

  1. Once you've logged into UpToDate via OpenAthens using your NetID, "University of Arizona" is in the top right
  2. Select "University of Arizona"
  3. Select "My Account"
  4. Select "Click here to register"
  5. The next page will display the option to create a new account or merge your existing account. Make your selection and follow the prompts.
    • Once completed, your NetID will automatically grant you access to your personal UpToDate account moving forward when you log in via OpenAthens.

For Designated Campus Colleagues (DCCs)

If you're a DCC, you should access UpToDate through your hospital or clinical site (Banner employees, see access for Banner employees). If your site does not provide access to UpToDate and you are affiliated with the College of Medicine-Phoenix or the College of Medicine-Tucson, please ask your University of Arizona department administrator to request access for you. Access to UpToDate is not available to DCCs affiliated with other colleges.
