Access to the UpToDate database has moved to OpenAthens. EZ Proxy and IP access will be turned off on June 5, 2026.

What this means for you

Connect or create your personal UpToDate account

After logging in to UpToDate through OpenAthens for the first time, you will need to connect an existing personal UpToDate account or create one.

Important: You may have used UpToDate previously through the campus network without creating a personal UpToDate account. If you do not already have an UpToDate username and password, select the option to create an account.

1. Log into UpToDate through OpenAthens using your UA NetID:

Select University of Arizona Libraries - Sign on with your NetID

2. Select University of Arizona in the upper-right corner.

3. Select My Account.

4. Select Click here to register.

5. On the next page, choose one of the following:

1. Connect an existing account if you already have a personal UpToDate username and password, select Merge Accounts.

or

2. Create an account if you have used UpToDate before but never created a personal account, or if you have never used UpToDate, select Register.

6. Follow the prompts to complete the registration process.

Once your account is connected or created via OpenAthens, logging into UpToDate with UA NetID and password will automatically take you to your personal UpToDate account.

For Designated Campus Colleagues (DCCs)

If you're a DCC, you should access UpToDate through your hospital or clinical site (Banner employees, see access for Banner employees). If your site does not provide access to UpToDate and you are affiliated with the College of Medicine-Phoenix or the College of Medicine-Tucson, please ask your University of Arizona department administrator to request access for you. Access to UpToDate is not available to DCCs affiliated with other colleges.
