About this collection

The Papers in the first subgroup include minutes from stockholder meetings, 1955-1982; corporation bylaws, 1951-1982; contract agreements, 1951-1986 and 1927 incorporation agreement; legal correspondence with Mesch, Clark and Rothschild law firm, 1982-1984; stock purchase and sales agreements 1954-1986; stock certificates, 1954-1986; partnership agreements, 1945-1968; site plans and building blueprints, 1953-1985; and newspaper clippings, 1979-1980. This collection contains materials primarily from the years, 1951-1986.

The second subgroup contains color photographs of building interiors/exteriors, employee gatherings and group portraits. Also included are color slides, silver gelatin prints and color negatives. Most photographic materials come from the period, 1961-1985. However, photographs from as recent as 1994 are included. These later prints may reflect employee gatherings from the Thomas Davis Clinic which bought out controlling interest of the Tucson Clinic in 1986.

Historical background

The Tucson Medical and Surgical Clinic first filed articles of incorporation on July 27, 1927. During the 1950’s and 1960’s the company began a business relationship with the Tucson Clinic, essentially a spin-off corporation, which was officially incorporated in March 1963. These papers outline the formation and growth of the corporation from 1953-1985, until its sale in 1986 to the Thomas Davis Clinic.
