Typescript copies of 352 selected letters between Hull and numerous politicians, 1911-1932, chiefly relating to the Democratic Party and political strategies. Major correspondents include Woodrow Wilson, 1916-1923; George Fort Milton, 1928-1930; Franklin D. Roosevelt, 1928-1932; and H.B. "Brad" McGinnis, 1928. Letters from 1919 to 1930 concern Hull's efforts to recognize the achievements of war hero Sergeant Alvin C. York.
American statesman; represented Tennessee in the U.S. House of Representatives (1907-1921, 1923-1931), and U.S. Senate (1931-1933); U.S. Secretary of State (1933-1944).
