National Library of Medicine video features Health Sciences Library
During the Medical Library Association's Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, May 18-23, 2018, the National Library of Medicine put a spotlight on the University of Arizona Health Sciences Library (UAHSL) and Outreach Services Librarian Yamila El-Khayat. As a member of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM), a National Library of Medicine program, UAHSL is part of NNLM’s Pacific Southwest Region (PSR), and serves as the designated health resource library for Arizona. Yamila regularly travels throughout Arizona to provide health literacy education.
Learn more in NNLM's video, which shows Yamila facilitating an information literacy program for a group of community health workers, or "promotores de salud" in Spanish, at the Mexican Consulate of Tucson. Associate Dean Jerry Perry is also featured, and discusses the impact of the library on border and tribal communities, as well as K-12 students.
