We're excited to welcome Alexandra “Alex” Wingate to Special Collections as the rare books curator / assistant librarian. Her first day was Aug. 17.

Wingate received her Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) with a concentration in rare books and digital humanities from Indiana University, an MA in History of the Book from the Institute of English Studies, School of Advanced Study at the University of London, and a BA from the College of William & Mary in Hispanic Studies and Linguistics.

She is currently completing her Ph.D., specializing in book history, special collections, and digital scholarship. As a research assistant, she completed a four-part research project on MLIS curriculum, including informative reports and recommendations for Indiana University Department of Information and Library Science MLS Curriculum Development Committee. Wingate also brings experience in the classroom where, as an instructor at IU, she taught principles of book history, print culture, and digital humanities, giving her opportunities to implement engaging instruction and outreach activities with rare books.
