Congratulations and welcome, Chelsea and Sydney!

In early June, Chelsea Burk joined Student Learning and Engagement as Librarian, Instructional Strategies and STEM. For the past five years, Burk was Major Exploration Advisor in the University of Arizona A Center which advises students as they explore the institution, affirm their educational goals, and attain a degree. In her free time, Burk reads Patricia Highsmith novels, rides her bike to 4th Ave, and befriends the cat that showed up in her backyard.

Sydney Schaffer joined Special Collections as Prevention Technician in April. She came to the University of Arizona with a strong museum background, having earned her master’s degree in conservation, with an emphasis in paper conservation, from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Schaffer completed her first undergraduate degree at Northern Arizona University, then earned a post‑baccalaureate from New Mexico State University. She knows the desert well and is grateful to be back in the Southwest. Over the years, Schaffer has interned and worked at museums across the United States and Canada. Outside of work, she enjoys rock climbing, swimming, and has recently taken up fencing.
