About this collection

Correspondence, photographs, financial records, and legal papers relating to operations at the Campo Bonito Mine. Chiefly correspondence between Cody and Ernest J. Ewing concerning mine operations. Also includes other business letters, financial records, legal papers, and photographs of Cody, Dyer, and Campo Bonito.

Historical background

American scout and showman. William Frederick Cody, known as Buffalo Bill, operated Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show and other business ventures from 1883 on. The Campo Bonito Mine, Oracle, Ariz. was owned by the Cody-Dyer Arizona Mining and Milling Company. Partners were Cody and Col. J.E. Dyer; Ernest J. Ewing was the manager.
