What do you do?

I’m the Vice Dean. Access & Information Services, Technology Strategy & Services, Special Collections, and The Office of Digital Innovation & Stewardship report up through me, and I serve on the senior leadership team. I serve as the lead administrator in the absence of the dean and oversee the day to day operations of the Libraries. I’ve heard my position called the COO – Chief Operating Officer.

How long have you worked for University Libraries?

I just passed my sixth month mark so I’m still a newbie.

What’s your favorite library resource or service and why?

I feel like I’m still learning so much about the services and resources we provide here that it is difficult to make a choice. So far I’d have to say my favorite resource are all of the people here – everyone brings so much care, knowledge, and professionalism to the work of the Libraries, and I think our users can see that.

What would people be surprised to know about you?

I can eat fire! In my twenties, I was involved in a queer activist group for several years that did a lot of street theater - some of which involved eating fire. I’ve not done it in a long time – and am not sure I could do it again – but it’s definitely something people find surprising about me.
