#WeAreUAZLibraries: Rachel Martinez
#WeAreUAZLibraries is a bi-weekly series that introduces our staff on Facebook and Instagram. Meet Rachel Martinez!
What do you do?
I’m a Library Information Associate, Senior in the Access and Information Services (AIS) department of the UA Libraries (#beardown). Specifically, I’m on the Reference Team, which works on training/teaching AIS staff.
How long have you worked for University Libraries?
This month, I will have been at the Libraries for one whole year!
What’s your favorite library resource or service and why?
My favorite library resources are our online journal collections and databases, particularly the ones that focus on pro/con issues. Misinformation is so ubiquitous on social media, “news” sites, and in everyday conversation. So, it’s nice to know that we have these resources where students can get the facts on such sensitive topics.
What would people be surprised to know about you?
I love animals and nature. I love both of these things so much that I used to volunteer at a zoo so that I could teach people about their roles in the ecosystem. When I’m not at work I hang out with my dogs, Sadie (the Mini Australian Shepherd in the picture) and Lola (a Copper Husky puppy).
Rachel’s story was originally posted on social media on July 17, 2018.
