Collections Services Department Head Teresa Hazen gave a presentation at the annual NASIG conference held this year in Seattle, WA, on June 4. NASIG (formerly the North American Serials Interest Group, Inc.) is an independent non-profit that promotes communication, information, and continuing education about serials, electronic resources, and the broader issues of scholarly communication. 

Teresa and her co-presenter, Matthew Ragucci, a Librarian based in the New York City metro area, discussed “Navigating National Information Standards Organization (NISO)'s Open Discovery Initiative: A Deep Dive into Libraries and Publishers Collaboration." NISO is a nonprofit membership organization that identifies, develops, maintains, and publishes technical standards to manage information.

“I think the presentation went well," Teresa said, “judging by all the questions asked at the end! It sparked a good audience discussion, and we ran over our time. We wanted attendees to have a better understanding of the ways that content providers and libraries can improve their internal processes and relationships with each other for improved user discovery.” 

Teresa and Matthew know each other from their mutual interest and participation in various activities, like NISO's Open Discovery Initiative, that promote discovery of content.
