Michelle Halla, First-Year Experience Librarian in Student Learning and Engagement, was interviewed for the quarterly publication of LOEX a self-supporting, non-profit educational clearinghouse for library instruction and information literacy information founded in 1971 at Eastern Michigan University

Interview excerpt:

LOEX: Where do you work? What is your job title and what are your main responsibilities? How long have you been in this position? 

Halla: I am the First-Year Experience Librarian at the University of Arizona Libraries. I coordinate the first-year instruction program for the Libraries, including integration with first-year writing courses, engagement with the Office of General Education, and our UNIV 101/301 courses. I am also heavily involved with outreach and student success efforts, liaising with other groups on campus focused on student retention. I have been in this position just under two full years.
