A message from University Libraries Dean Shan Sutton
Dear colleagues, students and community members,
It goes without saying that things have changed for all of us over the last few weeks. In these uncertain times, our commitment at University Libraries to support UA students, faculty and researchers remains a constant.
As the COVID-19 situation evolved, it became increasingly clear that we needed to close the libraries as a place where large numbers of people could gather and potential exposure could occur. We quickly came together to concentrate our energy on a broad range of new and existing online services, plus we're lending laptops to ensure that all students in need are prepared to attend online courses.
I'm incredibly appreciative for our staff's work during this transition. Within a short time frame full of complexity, we did a great job to stay calm, focused, flexible and creative to make it happen. Every library department is contributing to student learning, instruction and faculty research in this new environment.
To our staff and faculty, thank you for your individual and collective efforts.
Moving forward, we must remain focused on what we can control. That means continuing to deliver high impact support and services for UA teaching, student learning and faculty research by meeting people where they are, which for now is largely online.
Stay safe and strong.
Shan C. Sutton
Dean, University of Arizona Libraries
