Where

The student employees in Special Collections made great contributions over the past academic year.

The spring semester has ended, but we wanted to give a special shout-out to the student employees in Special Collections who made great contributions over the past academic year.

From August 10, 2020, to May 4, 2021, they served over 219 people. In addition, we were able to respond to requests related to our Special Collections scanning services because of their ongoing work onsite throughout the fall and spring semesters.

18,733 pages were scanned
430 images were scanned
132 online reproduction requests were filled out
97 interlibrary loan requests were processed

Some of our future archivists also shared stories and experiences about working in Special Collections.

In What the Future HoldsMichelle Boyer-Kelly, a Ph.D. candidate in American Indian Studies, writes about processing an interesting collection from photographer Leslie J. Yerman. Blogs written by students from the University of Arizona iSchool Class of 2021 included: Elizabeth Garcia, who tells us about surveying and organizing the Southern Arizona Water Resources Association collection in Reflections from Special CollectionsElizabeth Wheeler, who worked on the OSIRIS-Rex Spacecraft team’s collection of flair buttons; and Emma Luthi, who spent a good amount of time on the first floor of Special Collections and shared a few observations in Haunting the Archive - End of Year Wrap Up.

Thank you all for your hard work and for being a part of our Special Collections department!
