Intro to Claude Code

When

1 – 2 p.m., Oct. 20, 2026

The AI+ Studio in the University Libraries is offering the workshop "Introduction to Claude Code" (Anthropic's agentic coding tool). You describe your goal in plain English and it creates your codebase, edits files, runs tests and commits, while you approve each step.

In this session we demonstrate how Claude Code is used. We walk through the setup instructions (Mac, Windows or Linux), show example projects, and explain the core ideas: the agentic loop, permission modes, CLAUDE.md, slash commands, skills, MCP connectors, hooks and subagents. We close with a suggested set of best practices.

No laptop required. This session will be a demonstration for those interested in understanding Claude Code. Attending the Intro to Claude workshop first is helpful but not required.

This IN-PERSON workshop will be held in the AI+ Studio in the Weaver Science-Engineering Library, Room 212.
