The University of Arizona College of Medicine -- Phoenix was opened as a branch campus of the main Tucson campus in 2007. The inaugural class had 24 students enrolled in the Fall 2007 semester, and recruitment grew for several years. In 2012, the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) granted accreditation to the branch as its own independent campus. While Arizona State University was, at one time, a collaborator with the campus, they ended the partnership in 2010. The University of Arizona is now the only college associated with the campus.
