This collection contains two series, the first being five acrylic framed photographs courtesy of the Tucson Gay Museum. The photographs highlight different periods in Tucson's Gay Pride, including photographs from events held in 1977 and 1990. Series II is comprised of several reels of the Tucson Observer Newspaper, which have been arranged chronologically.
The Tucson Gay Museum began its efforts in 1967 as a grassroots campaign to preserve LGBTQIA+ historical archives, histories, stories, and other media. The Tucson Gay Museum maintains extensive records and artifacts relating to LGBTQIA+ identities and histories including, but not limited to: photographs, posters, publications, event announcements, and other memorabilia. The photographs and Tucson Observer Newspaper reels within this collection were donated by the Tucson Gay Museum.
The Tucson Observer Newspaper (an its other entities) was published in Tucson, Arizona and was a gay owned news and advertising publication with readership in primarily Tucson and Phoenix.
