11 blueprints and architectural drawings for a residential dwelling constructed for Florence Pond in Tucson, Arizona in 1934.
Constructed from 1935-1937, on the eastern edge of Tucson, Arizona, Stone Ashley was designed by New York architect Grosvenor Atterbury and built by the M. M. Sundt Construction Company. Sited on 319 acres of rich desert and built of native fieldstone and specially made brick, the Desert Type residence was a gift to Miss Florence L. Pond from her father, Detroit attorney Ashley Pond. The significance of the residence is its Western Expansion character-defining features, designed by a master architect. The site served as Miss Pond’s residence until 1948 when it was sold to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bittker and altered by Architect Bernard Friedman for use as the El Dorado Lodge.
