This collection contains "Phratereans" newsletters published by the organizations home office in Los Angeles from 1943-1974. These newsletters showcase the first 50 years of Phrateres history. The collection was put together in honor of the Golden Anniversary Convention in 1974. The Phi Lambda Phrateres chapter came to the University of Arizona as a sorority in the 1930's and served the community both locally and internationally through various philanthropic work.
Phrateres was founded for women at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1924 to promote socialization and philanthropy amoung women who were not only in dorms or involved in sororities, but all women attending the University. The group was immediately popular and gained many new members and chapters across the country, including the Unviversity of Arizona's Phi Lambda chapter in 1937 until it disbanded in 2000.
