Postcards have been arranged by theme within series. A majority of the postcards have been used for correspondence (were written on, stamped, and mailed) although some of the postcards remain clean (no writting, not sent). Additions to the collection are ongoing. Series currently include 'artists', 'subject', 'US States', 'International countries', 'patriotic', 'collector books', and 'oversize.' It is important to note that within the 'countries' series, some of the country names used in the original collection have changed politically over time (for example, Ceylon is now Sri Lanka).
