About this collection

Photocopies of minutes of meetings of the International Boundary and Water Commission following the 1944 Treaty relating to the Utilization of Waters of the Colorado and Tijuana Rivers and of the Rio Grande concerning the distribution of waters from the Colorado River and Rio Grande. Topics include flood control, sewage treatment, water delivery, border sanitation, and emergency water deliveries to Mexico.

Historical background

The commission was formed in 1889 but the 1944 treaty related to how the United States and Mexico would jointly use waters of the Colorado and Tijuana Rivers and of the Rio Grande and working out issues of border sanitation.
