About this collection

This collection contains a wide variety of interviewees over many years. Interviewees include Arizona pioneers and prominent citizens. As well, histories include narrations by pioneers themselves and discuss how families came to live in certain parts of Arizona. The collection is organized alphabetically by interviewee. It comprised a wide variety of topics and subject matter. A brief overview of subject matter discussed in the oral histories is provided with the individuals’ name.

The oral history collection was compiled by Special Collections over the years in order to provide access to various individuals' oral histories located within Special Collections holdings. The collection is organized alphabetically by individuals’ last name.

Emil F. "Nick" Schaaf was a resident of Cochise, Arizona. He was born in Deptford Township, Clouchester County, New Jersey. He moved to Arizona from New Jersey in 1950, and moved to Willcox from Double Adobe, then moved to Cochise in October 1972. He was a historian at the University of Arizona.
