Holograph docket of preliminary hearings held before L.C. Hughes as U.S. Commissioner, and various other records pertaining to the District Court in which he served, covering the period February 4, 1887 to January 5, 1889.

Historical background

Arizona pioneer; lawyer, newspaper publisher, and politician. Hughes established the Arizona Daily Star in 1877 and published it until his death. He served as district attorney, probate judge, attorney general for Arizona, U.S. Court Commissioner, member and secretary to the Board of World's Fair Commissioners of Arizona, Governor of Arizona, 1893-1896, and chancellor of the Board of Regents, 1897-1898.
