Constance Helmericks motion picture films

The Constance Helmericks collection consists of two series, comprising motion picture film reels and mixed promotional materials, for her documentary film The Many Faces of Mexico. Series I contains nine reels of motion picture film, including seven reels of unedited raw footage and two exhibition reels of the final cut of the documentary. Series II contains medium format still photographic slides taken during the production of The Many Faces of Mexico, promotional portraits of Constance Helmericks, and a double-sided promotional flyer for the film.
Constance Helmericks was an adventurer, author, and filmmaker who documented her travels in Alaska and the Arctic Circle, and other far-flung locations, from the 1940s through the 1970s. She directed the color documentary film "The Many Faces of Mexico" in the mid-1950s and presented it on the educational lecture circuit under the titles "Mexico Today" and "Our Southern Neighbors, Mexico."
