About this collection

This collection is organized chronologically. It consists of newsletters, electronic correspondence, event calendars, meeting minutes, and event flyers. It also includes the Tucson Prime Timers (TPT) Bylaws, board meeting minutes, and financial information. Additionally, the collection features correspondence related to the partnership between TPT and the Men’s Social Network (MSN). A composition book containing notes from the TPT Secretary is included. The collection contains one photograph. Most of the documents are printed copies of original electronic files, with the exception of the photograph.

Historical background

Tucson Prime Timers (TPT) is a social organization for mature gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals who self-identify as male and are over the age of 21. It was officially created in August 1993. TPT was established to create opportunities for social connection, education, and recreation within a supportive environment. The organization serves as a space for community building and social engagement.

TPT is a non-profit, non-political organization and a local chapter of Prime Timers® Worldwide (PTWW), an international social organization founded in 1987 to support mature gay men through their network of 70+ chapters across the United States and Canada.

TPT fosters positive community in part by organizing regular events such as lunches, trips, and movie nights. They also sponsor interest-based club gatherings, including Book Clubs and a Garden Club. One of their primary methods of communicating with members is through the distribution of a monthly newsletters.
