Investing in our future researchers
Through University Libraries Associate Dean funding, the pilot Data Management and Sharing Plan (DMSP) Ambassador Program is an investment in transforming U of A PhD students into the next generation of leaders who will make an impact on their academic community.
DMSP Program Ambassadors are U of A graduate students who will support DMSP literacy in their respective college or unit through a variety of means. This includes connecting with key research administrators; advocating for DMSP training and workshops; developing free and accessible resources; providing DMSP consultation and guidance to researchers; and more.
Congratulations!
Meet our 2025-2026 Graduate Ambassadors (pictured left to right): Kelly Kim, Clinical Psychology, College of Science; Liliana Salas-Niño, Information, College of Information Science; Paulina Colombo, Epidemiology, Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health; and Pedro Flores Gallardo, Environmental Health Sciences, Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health.
Applicant recruitment
The call for applications drew great interest and inquiries about the program which led to 14 submissions from many U of A colleges and departments including: Computer Science; Educational Policy Studies & Practice; English; Environmental Science; Epidemiology; Environmental Health Sciences; Graduate Interdisciplinary Programs; Hydrology & Atmospheric Sciences; Information Sciences; Mathematics; Molecular & Cellular Biology; Psychology; and Statistics & Data Science.
Selection process
The initial approval was for two ambassadors; however, because the response was strong and diverse, the project team received further support to select two more ambassadors with Health Science Library (HSL) director funding. Many thanks to University Libraries Associate Dean Tara Radniecki, and HSL Interim Director Annabelle Nuñez who facilitated the funding.
