When

8 a.m. – 8 p.m., Nov. 19, 2010

Where

The public is invited to drop in and enjoy a marathon reading of John Milton's epic poem Paradise Lost.  Milton's poem is widely recognized as being one of the greatest poems in the English language. Lovers of poetry gather every fall to celebrate Milton's achievement, generally holding events in November to commemorate the first publication of Milton's epic in 1667 and/or Milton's birth in 1608. Reading of the poem by University of Arizona English and creative writing majors and special guests will take about 12 hours. Visitors are welcome to read, or just to observe.

This event is hosted by John Ulreich from the department of English and sponsored by the University Libraries, W.W. Norton Publishing Company and Marlys H. Witte.

The Milton Marathon is part of the third annual Humanities Week, a series of community lectures and events by College of Humanities faculty and distinguished guests, Nov. 15-19.
