Pressbooks offers a user-friendly way to publish books, guides, and other texts (for online use or printing). Anyone at the University of Arizona can sign up for a free account.

Featuring a variety of templates and plug-ins, Pressbooks easily integrates video, images, charts, interactive H5P activitiesHypothesis annotation, and more. You can also clone other existing Pressbooks books and customize them.

Jointly supported by Digital Learning and the Libraries, Pressbooks facilitates the production of open educational resources (OER), but can also be used to publish texts that are copyrighted with all rights reserved. Pressbooks’ help section is full of user resources.

To see an example of what’s possible in Pressbooks, see the amazing open textbook Humans R Social Media, created by iSchool Assistant Professor and CUES Distinguished Fellow Diana Daly with students from her large Gen Ed class (ESOC 150B1) and the iVoices Media Lab

HRSM is a great example of open pedagogy, which involves students in the creation of OER.

The book features student-created essays, graphics, videos, audio clips, and glossary terms.
