Sage Research Methods Online is a new database University Libraries provides access to that supports researchers in every stage of their research process. Access includes up-to-date information on both qualitative and quantitative methods. Novice researchers in a variety of disciplines can learn the basics, and more experienced researchers can find more nuanced resources through articles, encyclopedia entries, case studies, podcasts, and videos. This interdisciplinary database also has interactive tools, such as a methods map, project planner, and “which stats test” to determine the most appropriate option.

Associate Librarian, adjunct faculty, and current PhD student, Nicole Pagowsky finds this resource to be incredibly useful in self-directed learning and is additionally valuable to faculty teaching research methods to students beginning their research. “This database helps the researcher get grounded in their selected methodology and see how various methods fit into the bigger picture,” she said.
