Wow, what a Welcome Week!

University Libraries faculty and staff welcomed new and returning students during the University of Arizona Welcome Week in late August.

We were excited that about 300 students came through our Graduate Student Mixer on Aug. 21. The U of A Graduate College aimed to help students build connections and community during orientation with this event. Students were chatting with one another, mingling, and crowding our tables to talk with our librarians.

At the campus Student and Family Quest Resource Fair on Aug. 21, we shared information about library resources, answered questions, and gave out swag. During the five-hour event, about 450 students and family members stopped by the Libraries' table.

On Aug. 23, we hosted an open house at the Main Library as part of the Campus Mixers program, where 137 students visited CATalyst Studios, took a self-guided tour, and learned about library spaces and services.

On Aug. 26 and 27, our Health Sciences Library faculty and staff shared information about the library, made connections with students, and handed out freshly popped popcorn. We reached more than 280 medical, nursing, pharmacy, and public health students, and undergraduates as well. This event has been long-standing partnership with the R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy and the Mel & Enid Zuckerman College Public Health since 2009.

About 120 students came by our second annual Chill Out at the Library! on Aug. 28, where they could grab a frozen treat from eegee's. This event highlighted library resources that support students outside the classroom, such as leisure reading with the Wildcat Reads and Books That Matter collections, eBooks and audiobooks through Overdrive/Libby, and checking out Act One Culture Passes at the Main Library to visit participating museums, and arts and cultural sites. Students also learned how to make cyanotypes, or sunprints, on the patio using pre-treated paper and bandanas, along with custom stencils made on our laser cutter.

Thank you!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make these large-scale events happen.
