Welcome back! Supporting students, faculty, staff & research through summer 2022
For summer 2022, Special Collections will remain closed until further notice except by appointment. Appointment times are available to students, faculty, staff, and the public, Monday-Wednesday, between 10 am & 4 pm. Appointments are limited and requests must be made at least one week in advance. Please do not travel to the library without receiving confirmation of your appointment time and availability of your requested materials.
Masks are recommended, but not required inside the Special Collections Reading Room.
Consultations
Faculty, students, and staff who have questions about our collections or want to access our materials should consult our online services. If you would like to schedule an appointment to visit, please indicate that on our research assistance request form. Our staff will review your request and follow up with you. If we can’t fulfill your needs any other way, we’ll work with you to set up a time to visit.
Primary sources and in-person classes
If you’re considering using primary sources in your curriculum, reach out to us as soon as possible for consultation. We are supporting online, in-person, and hybrid instruction for University of Arizona courses during spring semester 2022. Special Collections will accommodate in-person class instruction, generally up to 20 students, where interaction with the physical materials is critical to the course learning objectives and the class can be accommodated safely according to university guidelines.
We can also meet your needs through virtual instruction using Zoom or other tools and the use of digital collections. We will digitize 50 pages or less from archival collections, or 20-40 photographs for use in class instruction with 4 weeks advance notice to the date of instruction. No monographs will be duplicated for instructional sessions. Any request of digital version may be denied based on condition and fragility of item. Our digital collections and online exhibits are always available and easy to access.
General public
Members of the general public may continue to consult our online services to submit research questions or request duplications. If you would like to schedule an appointment to visit, please indicate that on our research assistance request form. Our staff will review your request and follow up with you. If we can’t fulfill your needs any other way, we’ll work with you to set up a time to visit.
Donations
Special Collections is accepting donations with established safety protocols and limited contact. Donors may mail or drop off collections at the library, or arrange short, limited pick-ups of predetermined materials.
