University Libraries' Equipment Lending Program receives 'Evidence Based Practice' designation
The University Libraries' Rhonda G. Tubbs Tech Toolshed (Equipment Lending Program) has been accepted as an AZ HSI Evidence Based Practice by the AZ HSI Consortium. A Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) is a federal designation by the U.S. Department of Education that acknowledges colleges and universities with 25% or more total undergraduate Hispanic full-time equivalent student enrollment. The University of Arizona was designated an HSI in 2018.
The lending program is available to all University of Arizona students and includes items such as laptops, cameras, iPads, hotspots, virtual reality equipment, chargers, and more. Many items are available to borrow for an entire semester.
University Libraries staff will present more details about the lending program as a panel speaker at the AZ HSI Consortium's one-hour webinar in April.
Launched in 2021, the AZ HSI Consortium seeks to:
- Strengthen the individual and collective capacity of Arizona HSIs to intentionally support conditions necessary for Latinx student success in Arizona.
- Bring together all HSIs across Arizona to develop a community of practice to engage collectively in professional development, support the exchange of evidence-based and culturally relevant practices, facilitate successful transfer of Latinx students to Arizona universities.
- Collaborate across HSIs when seeking funding opportunities and other important partnerships.
