Roger Myers receives 2019 Conference of Inter-Mountain Archivists award
Librarian Roger Myers is the recipient of the 2019 Conference of Inter-Mountain Archivists (CIMA) Mentor Award for his 30 years of mentoring at UA Libraries Special Collections. CIMA is an association of archivists, conservators, historians, and archival professionals in Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Idaho, and New Mexico.
Roger has mentored countless students, graduate assistants, and new employees, and sharing his knowledge and passion for Special Collections has made him the cornerstone for the department’s students and staff. He encourages and creates opportunities for new professionals to present at local conferences, offers advice, and introduces them to the archivists of the Inter-Mountain region. There is never a question too big or small that Roger does not take the time to answer. Additionally, he is a long-time advocate of creating opportunities for students to develop their skills as emerging new professionals. He encourages advanced training for motivated students by budgeting and collaborating with other departments to create semester-long positions for them in Special Collections.
CIMA will honor this year’s award recipients during a luncheon at the organization’s Annual Conference in Tucson, Arizona (May 15-18, 2019). The award luncheon will take place on May 17 at 12:00 pm at the Tucson Marriott University Park Hotel.
