Douglass Day Transcribe-a-thon

Bring your laptop, grab a cupcake, and celebrate the birthday of Frederick Douglass on Douglass Day, an annual nation-wide transcribe-a-thon and a collective action for Black history. Drop in anytime and transcribe materials from Mary Ann Shadd Cary, the first Black woman publisher in North America and the first woman publisher in Canada. See calendar listing.

Research Data Challenge

We are kicking off the challenge with demonstrations, workshops, and drop-in hours to introduce you to Planet Labs. Planet is partnering with the University to provide free access to a near-daily stream of Earth-observation satellite data. This data stream will be available to all faculty, stand, students and designated campus colleagues starting Feb. 15.

The challenge—the specific theme to tackle will be revealed on Feb. 15—is a campus-wide student competition. The winners will receive $1,000.
