Librarian Mary Feeney presented at virtual Congressional Briefing
The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) invited Mary Feeney, Librarian, to be a panelist in a virtual Congressional Briefing on Sept. 22. “Chronicling American History through Newspapers from 1777-1963" covered the National Digital Newspaper Program (NDNP), a joint project between NEH and the Library of Congress, to create and maintain a publicly available, online digital archive of historically significant newspapers published in the United States between 1836 and 1922.
Feeney shared information about digitization of newspapers from Arizona's diverse communities, how she engages different audiences with historical newspapers in Chronicling America, and her partnerships with the State Library and with fellow NDNP awardees in other states.
Event attendees included Congressional staffers and staff from the NEH and the Library of Congress.
