The Network of National Libraries of Medicine (NNLM) is part of the National Library of Medicine and engages with communities by providing access to trusted information which will improve the public's health. This topic is explored on NNLM's Discovery Podcast series.

Lauren Wittek, Communication Specialist for Health Sciences Library and for NNLM Region 4, recorded the discovery episode, Equal Health Care Access in Utah, covering Region 4’s funding of a pilot program to help health care professionals who operate outside of large institutions.

Episode guest Christy Jarvis, a scholarly Communications Librarian at the University of Utah Eccles Health Sciences Library, discussed issues faced by rural physicians. Former Health Sciences Library Outreach Librarian Yamila El-Khayat is the podcast's host and recorded the episode with Lauren.

“I’ve been an avid podcast listener for many years,” Wittek said, “but this was the first time I’ve ever been the host. I had a blast learning the ins and outs of the process, which was made all the more fun by collaborating with Yamila. I look forward to recording more episodes as a way to share all the great work being done in Region 4.”

The episode is fun and information-filled, and a quick listen at just 17-minutes long.

Well done, Lauren!
