The University Libraries are pleased to announce that Data Science Specialist and Data Cooperative Lead Jeff Oliver is the 2024 recipient of the Lois Olsrud Library Faculty Excellence Award!

Named after Lois Olsrud, a librarian who worked at the University of Arizona Libraries from 1966 to 1996, this annual award honors a library faculty member who demonstrates excellence in providing service to and collaborating with our campus community. Jeff was nominated by library faculty and campus colleagues.

"Jeff has been a model for what customer-facing, service-oriented roles in the libraries should look like. Colleagues and collaborators laud his commitment to students," wrote a library faculty colleague in their nomination.

A campus faculty member shared, "Dr. Oliver is a dedicated and inspiring colleague, instructor and mentor, whose work has had a great impact not only on hundreds of students and faculty on campus and in the community at large, but also more personally on my own work as a data science educator."

"In all aspects of his work, Jeff is intentional, organized, and effectual with an unparalleled spirit of collaboration, integrity, and care," according to another library faculty colleague.

This year’s Library Faculty Assembly Award Committee members were Alba Fernández-Keys (co-chair), Yvonne Mery, and Anthony Sanchez (co-chair).

Congratulations, Jeff, and thank you for your work!
