Finals 2024 student support activities at the Libraries recap
Whew! Finals season 2024 has come and gone. Here's how we supported our students.
Stamp Making & Self-Care, Dec. 12 & Dec. 18
We hosted the second annual event on Reading Day, Dec. 12, as the first of two days providing self-care kit assembly stations during finals.
Students learned how to create original stamps using rubber erasers and had the option to decorate a goody bag before selecting from free treats.
The self-care kits were also available on Sunday, Dec. 18, and more than 300 students participated in these two events. Each bag included self-care and stress management tips and resources provided by Campus Health and Counseling & Psych Services. Students could choose from colorful mini highlighters, instant coffee, Emergen-C, Play-Doh, and keychains with encouraging messages designed and made in CATalyst Studios.
Pause for Paws, Dec. 15
It was a memorable time this year with our long-time event partner, Pet Partners of Southern Arizona. There was a mix of both familiar faces and some new furry friends who brought so much joy to everyone present. Between 3pm to 5pm, we had approximately 1,616 attendees and 16 pet therapy teams.
We were thrilled to team up again with Associated Students of the University of Arizona Student Health and Advocacy Committee (SHAC), who brightened the day by sharing kindness notes and fun goodies like notebooks, pens, gum, and candy. It was a paws-itively delightful day!
Snack Study Break, Dec. 15-17
We also had a blast hosting our finals snack break. Approximately 456 students stopped by for a snack in the Main Library to take a well-deserved breather during finals season. We had a delicious mix of sweet, savory, healthy, and not-so-healthy treats. Some top snack hits were Red Bull, Capri Sun, Gushers, beef jerky, and bananas. We handed out snacks from 7pm until they were gone.
Thank you
Thank you to everyone who helped make these student activities successful and to the students who stopped by.
