Artists' Books: Photography + Imagination online exhibit
Books have a recognizable look and feel.
With the creative investigations of spaces and places, artists’ books reimagine design, materials, typography, words and images, including photography. Whether created by a single artist—or by a collaboration of artists, printers, binders, papermakers, poets or scholars—artists’ books invite the reader to discover their rich structures and to experience them through a personal examination of their content.
This Special Collections online exhibit celebrates the history of these books and their makers, printers and designers. The displayed works are part of the larger collection housed in Special Collections, were made using a range of methods and materials and represent artists’ books produced from the early 1900s through today.
