Assistant Librarian Anthony Sanchez has been selected as a 2020-21 fellow for the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) Leadership and Career Development Program (LCDP). This competitive, yearlong program is open to mid-career librarians and addresses the need for greater representation of people of color (POC) in the leadership of research libraries and archives. As one of 24 fellows in the cohort, Anthony will attend LCDP Institutes which focus on current issues affecting research institutions and their libraries and archives.

Jennifer Church-Duran, department head of Research & Learning, expressed: "We are truly excited that Anthony will be representing our libraries as part of this dynamic cohort of emerging leaders in the research library community."

Anthony has been with University Libraries since 2016. He is liaison librarian to the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, School of Geography and Development, the Arizona State Museum and the Arizona Center for Judaic Studies. He also works with the following departments: Linguistics, American Indian Studies, Mexican American Studies and Latin American Studies. He is also a co-founder of CATalyst Studios, our expanded makerspace in the Main Library.

Anthony said: "What I’m looking forward to most in the program is strengthening my network and getting to work with talented and amazing POC librarians, as well as working with a mentor to further build up my leadership skills and strategies for breaking down systemic barriers to leadership roles for POC."
