Another round of student support activities wrapped up spring semester
University Libraries pitched in to help ease some of the stress of spring finals and graduation. Among the activities we hosted in May were a snack break, Pause for Paws with therapy dogs, movie night, and drop-in reference help.
Our movie night featuring Ponyo was a collaboration with the cultural centers:
- African American Student Affairs
- Asian Pacific American Student Affairs
- Adalberto & Ana Guerrero Student Center
- Disability Cultural Center
- LGBTQ Affairs
- Native American Student Affairs
- Women & Gender Resource Center
This year’s film was selected from student recommendations that came through the centers, which also helped to promote this year’s event. Sixty students came for all or part of the film and enjoyed free snacks and drinks. Our partnership event with Pet Partners of Southern Arizona – Pause for Paws – was a huge success! Twenty-two dog teams greeted over 2,400 people. We also collaborated with the Associated Students of the University of Arizona's (ASUA) Student Health Advocacy Committee (SHAC) who gave away snacks, tea, facial masks, stickers, Play-Doh and much more.
Special shout-out
“Thanks to Student Learning & Engagment graduate students Ryann Squires and Megan Ashcraft, and to our streaming video staff (specifically Elizabeth Kominsky) for all the behind-the-scenes help!” - Michelle Halla
“The SHAC line was the longest I have ever seen it! Folks who assisted that I am eternally grateful for are Ami Jones, Brad Comden, Chris Nicholson-Miller, Diona Lumia, Violeta Keifer, and Peter Schwarz.” - Michelle Monroe
