Morris K. Udall: Leader for the Land and the People
Morris King Udall, the younger of the Udall brothers, held an equally laudable and respectable status to Stewart as a long-running Arizonan liberal Democrat Congressperson.
Whether he was advocating for the health and economic welfare of Native Americans, or assisting in the drafting of pivotal environmental legislation, Morris – known commonly as "Mo" – left a vibrant and enduring legacy.
Hard-working and down-to-earth, with a penchant for humor and wit that he would later joke had cost him the presidency during his brief but shining run for the office, Mo Udall was known and loved by many contemporary politicians in both major U.S. political parties.
The selection of photographs, correspondence, and memorabilia from Special Collections showcases Mo's persistence and determination; his infectious personality, and deep respect for the land and its indigenous people.
