Keynote: “Habemus public media in Mexico?”
In 2013, a new media law was enacted in Mexico. Amongst other things, it recognized for the first time the notion of “Public Broadcasting”. This important step meant a big challenge for non-commercial institutions while trying to transform themselves into public media. Martell will discuss the development of Public Media services in Mexico—especially their historical conditions and the current challenges they face.
Lenin Martell is a fulltime professor in the School of Political Sciences, at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM.) He coordinates the Writing Center, where he has partnered community projects with the Washington D.C. agency, One Global Economy.
