These five workshops introduce how instructors can partner with CATalyst Studios staff to incorporate hands-on learning and maker-based literacies into a course. Each training highlights a specific tool or craft available at CATalyst Studios, including examples of existing faculty collaborations, best practices, and hands-on training or certification.
Reservations are required.
Participants are expected to bring a laptop and laptop charger (aside from the zine workshop on March 7).

Friday, Feb. 21: 3D Printing
An introduction to the applications for 3D design and 3D printing, followed by a 3D printing certification.
Friday, March 7: Zines
Learn how classes use zines as alternatives for or a supplement to written assignments and make a mini-zine and simple bound booklet.
Friday, March 21: Laser cutting
Discover how classes use laser engraving to explore history, art, and culture, then get your certification in laser cutting.
Friday, April 4: Vinyl cutting
Explore how courses use the vinyl cutters to create stickers and silkscreen stencils, then create customized stickers.
Friday, April 18: Podcasting
Discuss how podcasting and audio recording can enrich research outputs and learn how to use the podcasting station.
