'Library Carpentry' workshop

Library Carpentry introduces the fundamentals of computing and provides you a platform for further self-directed learning.

Library Carpentry workshops teach people working in library- and information-related roles how to:

  • Identify and use best practices in data structures
  • Learn how to programmatically transform and map data from one form to another
  • Work effectively with researchers, and IT and systems colleagues
  • Automate repetitive, error prone tasks

No previous knowledge of the tools presented at the workshop required. You are welcome to register for one or all sessions.

Schedule

May 25, 9am to noon – OpenRefine for easier data wrangling

June 1, 9am to noon – Introduction to working with data (regular expressions)

June 8, 9am to noon – Tidy Data

June 15, 9am to noon – Relational databases with SQL
